What is an Intention?
An intention is a positive thought about what you might want or need in your life right now. Intentions are very personal and relate to what you want to manifest in your life at this specific time.
An intention is like an energy pattern that you transmit either vocally or by thought into your crystal mala.
Intentions can be relate to your health, mental states, work life, love life…basically any aspect of your life where you would like to work towards your specific goals.
Your intention should promote being active, working towards something. For example it should start with the words;
My intention is…
Remember that intentions are never negative- they are all about you and what you want to achieve!
Here are some of our favourite intentions:
- I will wake up each day filled with gratitude for what I have.
- I accept the present moment for what it is.
- I am beautiful, confident and unique.
- Today I will give limitless love to those I come into contact with.
- This mala will protect and guide me to find my path in life.
- I dedicate this mala to my personal growth, to being calm, finding balance and stability in all aspects of my life.
- My intention is to find peace and happiness within myself.
Why set an intention?
Sometimes we need a reminder in our lives that everything is OK and we are doing the right thing. An intention helps to remind us this. It constantly puts us back in our place should the path happen to darken slightly.
Our intentions keep us in line towards what we want to achieve. By setting an intention in a mala or bracelet, whenever we see or wear it we are reminded of that intention, helping to create that reality in your life.
What does it involve?
Setting an intention involves nothing more than yourself and the object you want to set your intention into. In our case, one of our malas or bracelets.
How do you set an intention?
Firstly it is important to be clear what you would like in your life. Sit down in the morning with a pen and paper and draw/write down all the things you would like in your life. Be it spiritual, physical or material.
Circle the three most important things you wrote down. From those three – narrow it down to one for the moment. Write out an intention sentence using empowering words that are positive for that one thing you wrote down. Remember to be clear!
For example if one of the things you wanted was ‘happiness’- I would write the intention- ‘I intend to be happy by remembering all the opportunities that I have in my life at the moment.’
Get ready to set your intention into your mala or bracelet.
It is best to do this at a quiet time, when you are alone in a room, perhaps next to your altar, or on your yoga mat. Sit comfortably (this can also be on a chair)- take the mala in both hands cupping them together and bringing your hands to your heart, close your eyes. Inhale and exhale deeply a few times to ground yourself into the present moment.
Either out loud or internally state your intention while projecting the intention into the object in your hands. Do this a few times, as long as you want.
Bring your hands up to your forehead as a gesture of grace and gratitude for being here. Slowly open your hands to gaze at the mala.
You can either wear your mala or bracelet or use them for Japa (the practice of mantra recitation). When not using, it is best to keep them safe in the cloth pouch we provide for you.
Every time you see or use your mala or bracelet, you shall be reminded of your intention!
Can I use several different intentions in one Mala?
It is not recommended to set more than one intention per mala or bracelet.
However, once you feel your intention has materialized for you, you can cleanse the energies/intentions you set and reuse the same mala for a new intention.
